Working in partnership, The Westgate School and Henry Beaufort School are undertaking a new joint venture to support children with additional needs. We are looking to recruit undergraduates or postgraduates for Maths, Science and English tutoring. This presents an excellent opportunity for flexible working and would be ideal for someone looking to supplement their income on a flexible basis.

The Tutor will provide 1:1 and small group intervention and support for Key Stage 3 and 4 pupils who are unable to access school due to medical or other reasons. The support may not always be on the school site but at other venues. The times will be flexible and may be during and beyond the usual school day depending on the circumstances of the pupil.

Fixed term contract to June 2020

Up to 10 hours a week (hours to be negotiated)

Term time only

The successful candidate will:

• Have obtained Maths/ Science/English qualifications to undergraduate level 

• Have excellent communication and organisational skills

• Ideally have an understanding of the national curriculum for Science, Maths and English

• Be committed to the highest possible levels of achievement for every pupil

• Be cheerful, flexible and approachable

• Show initiative within the role and have good time management skills

• Have the patience and the imagination to help and inspire our children with their learning

• Be able to establish effective relationships with young people

• Be able to liaise effectively with class teachers

• Have access to professional development in school

• Receive full Safeguarding and Prevent Duty training
